Common mistakes
- I am very happy for you the news.→I am very happy about the news.
Use 'happy about' (not 'happy for') for a situation. 'Happy for you' is used when reacting to someone else's good luck.
- I wish you a happy life.→I wish you a happy life.
'Happy' in fixed wishes usually goes after the noun ('happy birthday', 'happy life'), not before.
